First aid guidance and changes

Blended training is very popular now, particularly with paediatric courses, designed to cut down classroom time.

Classes are also now paperless, so the, tests and feedback are done online via smartphone, tablet or laptop.

There have also been amendments in Paediatric CPR due to the

definition of a child's age changing.

Minor changes to treating a bleed and new risk assessments for treating catastrophic life threatening bleeds. Public Accessible bleeds kits are now becoming more readily available.

Benedict's Law came into effect September 2026 for schools to have spare auto-injectors available as well as revised care plans and risks assessments to aid prevention.

Martyn's Law is looking into coming into play next year.

Venue's with over 200 people will be required to register with the SIA and will require to have planning, awareness, basic planning, evacuation and first aid provision.
